Where Plant, Spirit and Being connect
Welcome to Ayahuma. We are so glad you've found your way here.
We are a small community in the Peruvian Amazon, practicing traditional plant medicine the way it's been done for thousands of years. Our shaman trained with Shipibo healers, learning not just ceremony, but deep relationship with these sacred plants.
We are ready to welcome you home.
The Story of Ayahuma
Ayahuma began with three dreams that found each other at exactly the right time.
For over thirty years, Elvis has walked the path of plant medicine. He apprenticed with Shipibo healers deep in the Amazon, learning not just how to conduct ceremonies, but how to truly listen to the plants and to honor his Maestros ancient teachings.
As ayahuasca became more widely known, Elvis witnessed retreat centers scaling up, forty, fifty, even a hundred people at a time. Plant medicine was becoming fast tourism, commodified and rushed. Middlemen and commercial organizations were profiting while local communities received little. The sacred relationship with the plant teachers was being lost in the push for more bookings and more growth.
He knew there had to be another way. He dreamed of his own Maloka, where he could share everything he'd learned over three decades in a way that honored his teachers, Shipibo tradition, the local Puerto Miguel community, and most importantly, the plant teachers themselves. A place built on reciprocity and respect.
Around the same time, Tanya and Thomas were dreaming too. They envisioned a healing center that would feel different from what was out there. Intimate, built with love and care, rooted in the principle of giving and taking in equal parts. A place where family and friends could unwind and reconnect. A family-run oasis in the jungle that embraced simple and slow living.
When these three dreams met, Ayahuma was born.
